My name is Amanda Diehl. I am currently a Registered Nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center located in Boston, Massachusetts. In May 2020, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island with a major in Nursing, a minor in Leadership Studies and a student in the Honors Program. For the past year and a half I have had the privilege to work as a postpartum nurse, in the middle of a pandemic. Working in women's health has always been a passion of mine and I feel so grateful to be able to have this experience right out of college. Nursing is an art and a science, it is taxing both physically and emotionally, however it is very rewarding work. Every day I go to work I have the opportunity to say that I have made a difference in someones life and that is something that is hard to say in many jobs. Now, you have likely found this page because I have applied to a position at your company and you are likely also wondering why someone who loves their job is looking for a career change. Well that is a fantastic question, and the answer primarily lies in the fact that while in nursing school I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Having an autoimmune disease does not automatically mean that I can not be a floor nurse but it does make my current work even more challenging. Living with chronic pain and fatigue makes working 12 hour shifts on my feet nearly impossible, and while I do love my work now, I worry that it is not a sustainable future for my wellbeing. With all of that being said, I don't want to leave the field of reproductive health and women's health. I am still extremely passionate about helping others on their path to find better quality health care. So here I am, looking for a position that is able to provide me with the same fulfillment as nursing, without the physical strain on my body.
